A WORD FROM THE AILA 2027 CO-CHAIRS
ONE OF THE MOST PERFECT PLACES TO HOST AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF APPLIED LINGUISTICS!
ONE OF THE MOST PERFECT PLACES TO HOST AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF APPLIED LINGUISTICS!

Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the AILA 2027 Organising Committee, we welcome all AILA affiliate members, academics and professionals in Applied Linguistics to the 22nd AILA World Congress 2027.
Canada, together with its Canadian Association of Applied Linguistics (ACLA) affiliate, has the honour of hosting AILA 2027 in beautiful Vancouver, August 8-13, 2027.
To be held at the Vancouver Convention Centre, with Vancouver’s downtown waterfront and a dramatic mountain backdrop, participants will enjoy one of the most beautiful settings in the world.
For the AILA 2027 World Congress, we will gather on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish Nation), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation) Nations. As a scientific community we are grateful to be able to gather on this territory to learn, grow and benefit from the First Nations communities and natural offerings of this land.
As a city, Vancouver is committed to the process of decolonization, and reconciliation with First Nations communities and so is AILA 2027.
While English and French are the official languages of Canada, over 70 Indigenous languages and 140 international languages are spoken in this territory. Within this multilingual landscape, we are confident that AILA 2027 will mobilize research knowledge conducted in many languages in Canada and invite multilingual contributions from around the world. With this plurilingual vision, Canada is indeed one of the most perfect places to host an international conference of Applied Linguistics.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU IN
VANCOUVER FOR AILA 2027!
